Charlton Park Estate has a long-standing relationship with mans-best-friend from family dogs, office dogs regularly patrolling the grounds to working dogs and for the last few years hosting dog sport events and providing locations for service dog training.

Catriona joins this illustrious canine heritage here at Charlton Park Estate with her training establishment. A Pawsitive Step is all about effective dog training using positive concepts originally based in Malmesbury, Catriona provides dog training classes and one-to-one personal training for you and your dog.

Catriona says she is, “very proud to offer the training methods coached by Absolute Dogs. Founded in science-based training and adapted from many dog sport games, It really does give you real-life transformations and works in training the value for the situation to come, not the situation that springs out of nowhere. Think other dogs, stealing food or rushing someone at the front door.

I’m fully insured, have dog first aid training and qualifications from Absolute Dogs. I also have continued professional development certificates from the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers. These specialise in areas like separation distress, dog to dog aggression, noise, light & sound phobias, resource guarding and dog to human aggression.”

Christmas Tree Collections

Dorothy House Hospice Christmas Tree Charity Collection

This January we re really pleased to support Dorothy House Hospice Care and their biggest annual Christmas Tree Collection fundraiser which they are running in partnership with the Justhelping charity. We will be taking in all the donated xmas trees and providing the drop-off point for the vilunteer.

Local people can book their used Christmas tree in now for a charitable donation and Dorothy House supporters and volunteers will pick it up between 7th – 9th January 2022. Taking part is easy, visit www.charityxmastreecollection.com type in your postcode to check that your area is covered, make a donation and list where your tree will be located.
Dorothy House asks for a donation to help fund their specialist palliative and end of life care services provided by the Hospice free of charge. All trees must be clearly marked with a label saying ‘Dorothy House’ and can be collected from businesses, schools, churches and offices. A percentage of trees will be chipped and shredded to make reusable materials for the community.
In January 2021 the Hospice’s Christmas Tree Collection raised in excess of £66,000. Dorothy House hopes to beat this sum in January 2022 as the Hospice has to raise £4 for every £1 it receives from the NHS to fund its care for local people living with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers.

Riding Permit Scheme Now Available

To promote equestrianism and equestrian access for riders on the Charlton Park Estate a riding permit with mapped routes has been created. Approximately 20km of off-road riding routes have been made available by Charlton Park Estate to support local riders and provide access for those who do not have hacking available.

To support this scheme the Estate will provide an annual permit is £120 and lasts from the date of issue to the 31st December of that year. Half-year passes may be offered at the discretion of the Estate Office.Riding-permit pass

Many riders don’t have direct access to off-road hacking despite the rural locations of many livery and riding establishments. With the 4500 acres of land that compromises the Charlton Park Estate, Farm Manager Robin Aird has created routes that provide this wonderful opportunity for riders to enjoy the Wiltshire countryside off-road and away from busy country lanes whilst also maintaining the integrity of the farm’s commercial needs and conservation work.

“We have such beautiful countryside, and we are pleased to be able to share this with the local riding community in a way that works for everyone. Campaigns run by The British Horse Society have highlighted that in so many parts of the country access have been reducing for riders. We hope that our efforts to open areas of the estate for riders will help address this.”

These routes will change from summer to winter to accommodate riders and other Estate activities and needs. Routes may be closed or amended without prior notice but where possible changes will be communicated in advance to permit holders. This will allow the Estate to tailor routes when seasonal events and work around the Estate need to be carried out with safety consideration for all countryside users. To download the routes please click here.

The permits will be available now and annually thereafter from 1st January. Applications forms and route maps are available from the estate office or click here to download the application form.
