Coach Horns Echoed by the Stable Yard at Charlton Park Estate Once Again

On Friday 14th October the old stable yard at Charlton Park Estate welcomed two 19th Century style horse-drawn stage coaches as part of a four-day charity drive. A once regular site here on the Estate, coaches would have come and gone throughout the day and the Coach Horns heard once again, announced the arrival and departure of our visiting guests today.

These coaches stopped to meet some of our Park residents and staff as part of a charity drive from Burford to Badminton.

Both coaches are privately owned, the “Nimrod” will be drawn by four, powerful, bay Gelderlander horses and the “Monarch” by a team of home-bred British Hackneys from a stud in Staffordshire. The 65-mile journey winding through East Leach Martin. Lechlade, Kempsford, Cricklade and Malmesbury will take four days, arriving at Badminton on Saturday 15th.

As the coaches pass through towns and villages, bucket collections will be made raising funds for Cancer charities . In previous years the two coaches have travelled from Windsor Castle to Warwick Castle, London to Portsmouth , and through the Snowdonia National Park on similar fund- raising ventures.
