Soay Lamb Boxes

Hand reared Charlton Park Estate lamb available for pre-order

Charlton Park Estate are pleased to offer a limited number of Soay lamb boxes on pre-order. Our small herd of soay sheep are looked after here in the fields surrounding the Charlton Park House and enjoy a free roaming life around the fields of the parkland.

The lambs are late maturing and produce smaller carcasses relative to commercial breeds. The meat from the Soay is lean, tender and low in cholesterol. It has a stronger flavour with a gamey taste when compared to more common sheep breeds.

A limited number of lambs will be available for pre-order, they will be processed locally in Wiltshire. Pre-ordered boxes must collect them from 9am on the 8th of July from the Estate Office.

The boxes will contain a selection of cuts from a whole lamb and will cost £125 each. To pre-order your lamb box please click here.

N.B. Please be aware that we offer a limited number of boxes and they will only be available to collect on a date given by the Estate office.

About Soay Sheep

The Soay sheep is a breed of domestic sheep (Ovis aries) descended from a population of feral sheep on the 100-hectare (250-acre) island of Soay in the St Kilda Archipelago, about 65 kilometres (40 mi) from the Western Isles of Scotland. It is one of the Northern European short-tailed sheep breeds. The breed is listed in “Category 4: At Risk” by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, because there are only between 900 and 1500 registered breeding Soay ewes.
