Simulated Game Shooting Now Available

Charlton Park Estate are pleased to announce a selection of dates for simulated game shooting days with Barbury Shooting School. Simulated game shooting replicates every aspect of game shooting and is an excellent form of corporate hospitality or perfect for a party of friends to get together and have some fun. It also offers an ideal introduction to newcomers to game shooting.

Barbury Shooting School (BSS) attracts shooters from far and wide for a variety of disciplines. Barbury also offers tuition for clay and game shots from novice to seasoned shooters and offers a wide variety of teaching targets.

BSS also offers initiatives to encourage ladies and youngsters to take up shooting with the Cotswold & Wiltshire Ladies and Young Clayshots programs and the school has 5 external estates where they run popular simulated game days from March through to September each year and Charlton Park Estate has become the latest Estate to be added to the shooting dates. Their main base is tucked away in the beautiful Wiltshire countryside situated on the Marlborough Downs just minutes from junction 15 of the M4 but for 6 dates this year Charlton Park Estate will be hosting Barbury Shooting School.

Simulated days are suitable for more experienced shots. However less experienced shots and novices can be accommodated when accompanied by an instructor making these days accessible for any keen shot.

The day is organised in the same way as a traditional game shoot with the added enjoyment of shooting during the summer months at Charlton Park Estate. The day starts with coffee and bacon rolls will be served in the shoot hut to start the day, followed by 3 drives then back to the shoot hut for lunch. Two guns per peg each taking it in turns to shoot and load. The targets will simulate driven Pheasants, Partridge, Grouse and Pigeon. The targets can easily be tailored to suit your requirements, considering the experience of the team of guns.

About Barbury Shooting School

Acquired by Huw Stephens in 2007, the school has grown in size and reputation over the past 14 years culminating in the most recent projects to rebuild the clubhouse and further extend the grounds. As well adding a large café, private function room and gun shop, BSS has also added 4 new covered Sportrap layouts, a new high tower and driven game area. These improvements made BSS the natural choice to host the English Open in 2021 and several other leading competitions.

As the school has grown so has the number of staff required to run this slick operation. With Huw Stephens still at the helm, he is ably supported by his Office Manager Lorna Davies and Assistant Manager Joshua Brown who head up a team 20 staff.  The gun room is managed by Craig Hartley and his team.

Open 7 days a week the gun room has an exceptional collection of new and second-hand shotguns from leading manufacturers available for purchase as well as a range of shooting accessories and gifts.

Barbury Shooting School is open 7 days a week for sporting practice and there’s no need to book. There’s a dedicated sporting layout available where the targets are changed every week and the addition of a Claymate system also means that lone shooters are welcome.
